The 5 Leadership Responsibilities

The quality and culture of your organization is determined by the effectiveness of your leadership team. Human capital has become the most valuable resource for a company and requires constant nourishing and development.

As a leader, focus on these five responsibilities:

Vision - Vision sets the pace; it is the fuel in the rocket. Fueled by inspiration, great leaders create a sense of hope for the future.

Creativity - Creativity is not a single event, but an ongoing pursuit to create the unknown. A good company allocates time and effort to practice brainstorming sessions at least quarterly.

Lead by Example - Leaders are always on stage, constantly being watched, judged, monitored and measured. Leaders cannot expect their people to be positive, driven, passionate and motivated unless they are first.

Inspect What You Expect - Alignment happens when everyone is rowing in the same direction. It's the leader's responsibility to hold everyone at every level in the organization accountable to the impact they were hired for.

Manage the Report Card - Humans have a perverse way of over complicating everything; however, when it comes to leading a successful organization, you must distill the information down to simplistic numbers. Find a way to make it simple so that your front line knows how to keep score.

"Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others." - Jack Welch
